Start off the New Year right with this jazzy ensemble consisting of piano, bass, drums, and sax, fronted by Diane Drake on trumpet. Their broad repertoire ranges from show tunes, to big band classics, to Latin hits, to jazz standards. They are sure to have you marching in the aisles when they play “When the Saints Go Marching In!”

This is a program of song and laughter with award-winning singer Lois Morton. She will sing a variety of songs, many of them her own compositions, about the stresses of modern society. Come and hear the humorous side of clutter, cell phones, diets, road rage, and more in lyrics that will capture the essence of our contemporary culture and keep you laughing all the way home! Live at the Library: Lenny @ 100: A Leonard Bernstein Centennial

Presented by The Alexander Wu Trio

Yamaha Piano Artist Alex Wu returns to the library, this time as a trio, to celebrate the music of Broadway and classical composer Leonard Bernstein. Bernstein would have been 100 this year, but his music retains great popularity, especially his Broadway and film music from West Side Story, Fancy Free, Candide, and Peter Pan. The trio will also play excerpts from his instrumental works and humorous vocal art songs, and Alex will read some of Bernstein’s musings about the meaning and wonder of music from his classic book, The Joy of Music.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, tenor Gino DiNapoli returns to the library with the wonderful music of Italy. He has a repertoire of over 400 songs, and he specializes in music from his birthplace, Naples. Many of the songs are love songs, and many have been translated into English, so you can get in a holiday mood and sing along with Gino!

Live at the Library: Brazilian Songbook Classics

Presented by Duo Brasileiro

Guitarist/Vocalist Richard Boukas returns to the library, this time accompanied by bassist Gustavo Amarante, for another panorama of popular Brazilian music from the 1960s until today. This concert will feature songs from composers who were guitarists, including Jobim, Bonfa, Guiga and Gonzaga, and will run the gamut of Brazilian popular music genres from samba and bossa nova to choro and baiao.
