Do you have the skills to guess what foods you taste? Join teen librarian Theresa Owens of Hampton Bays for this challenge as you compete against other blindfolded participants. Guess what over a dozen different treats are and answer trivia questions related to food! Whoever guesses the most foods correctly will win a $25 gift card! Tweens 'n' Teens: Learn the Steel Drum
With Bethpage Instructor Terry Muldoon!

The Steel Pan (made from a steel oil drum) is a unique musical percussion instrument which was invented in Trinidad & Tobago. You will learn about the origins of this amazing simple instrument, how it evolved from African drums, and how it is made by hand. You will learn how to play some simple scales and a simple song using some of the 38 individual notes. Everyone will learn different techniques such as a strike and a roll. A Handout will be provided for you to take home. The steel pan is quickly gaining popularity in the United States and all countries around the world as a solo instrument and part of a band. It's distinct, vibrant sound creates a "tropical" vibe which is now used in many genres of music!
