The music of the Kennedy White House is a celebration of the music that the President and the first lady loved, and spotlights their personal favorites. In remembrance of John F. Kennedy and his support of the arts the Serendip Piano Trio, with Alexander Wu (piano), Christina Liberis (violin), and Hwa Lee (cello) , will create the wide range of musical genres performed at the historic White House Concerts. Music of Mendelssohn, Gershwin, Bernstein, Debussy, Brubeck, Casals and Copland will be performed. The music ranges from classical, jazz and Latin music to bluegrass, film scores and new works written and arranged for the group. This is a not-to-be-missed afternoon of special music – don’t miss it. Admission is free and the town of Oyster Bay Department of Community and Youth Services, Cultural and Performing Arts Division co-sponsoring with the Bethpage Library presents this program as part of CAPA’s Distinguished Artists Concert Series 2014/1015.

The Assassination of John F. Kennedy

Where were you on November 22, 1963, when John F. Kennedy was murdered in Dallas, Texas? Bud Livingston will return to the library to discuss what happened on that fateful day when American and the world were shocked by the shooting of our young president.

 To this day, the debate goes on: was the Warren Commission correct when they decided that Lee Harvey Oswald was solely responsible for this heinous crime? Did Jack Ruby acted alone in killing Oswald or was there a conspiracy? Join Mr. Livingston at the library and weigh in on this spirited argument!
