Knitting (Daytime Classes)

Plan on joining talented instructor Marie DiPrimo for another series of classes for continuing or beginning knitters. What a great way to spend a morning or evening and end up with a project to be proud of! The first portion of every class will be devoted to teaching a specific knitting technique. Please bring scrap yarn and any size needles for this part of the class. The remainder of the class will be devoted to working on individual projects. If you are a first-time knitter, please bring 2 straight #10 knitting needles and one skein of worsted weight wool (3 ½-4 ounce skein). Experienced knitters bring the project you are currently working on or the materials for a new project you’re aching to begin. Don’t miss the fun, information and camaraderie! Yikes! The History of Movie Stunts 5/26/2015 7:30:00 PM
Yikes! The History of Movie Stunts
Presented by Clive Young

This program is the fast-paced sequel to Mr. Young’s popular program, Kaboom: The History of Special Effects, previously held at the library. It explores the action-packed evolution of jaw-dropping stunt work in movies.

From car chases, explosions and leaping off bridges, to sword fights and hanging from helicopters, Hollywood stuntmen and stuntwomen willingly risk their lives daily to bring excitement to the silver screen. Starting with seat-of-their-pants feats filmed in the early 1900s, the program follows a timeline of movie stunts throughout the ages.

Some of the most spectacular acts ever put to celluloid will be presented, while explaining the advancements in technology and safety that made them all possible. Even if you missed the first program, you’ll instantly be caught up in the action as Clive will have you at the edge of your seat! Tweens and Teens will love this too!
