PORTRAITS: Who's Afraid of Edward Albee?

Edward Albee was known for his distinct personality and different views which often became evident in his work, including a daring mix of theatricality and biting dialogue. He insisted that our most primitive instincts keep asserting themselves in the most civilized settings, and his plays incorporate these themes.

The program will include scenes from his plays performed by Ms. Romaine. His well-known works include The Zoo Story, The Sandbox, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and A Delicate Balance. Edward Albee won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama three times, and two of his other works won the Tony Award for Best Play.

Come see Shirley Romaine’s tribute to this late, great playwright. His plays are thrilling, provocative, and uniquely Albee.

Different eras produced different styles of music, based upon what was happening in society. To really appreciate classical music to its fullest, it is important to understand the time from which it came.
Follow the evolution of piano music through the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods, as you enjoy some of the most prominent pieces by notable composers of the times. This presentation consists of spoken lecture as well as a live piano performance.
