Bethpage Public Library
Auditorium & Lobby
Presented by Shazia Naderi & Crystal Toscano

Session 1: Tuesday, August 23 @ 2:00 P.M.
Session 2: Wednesday, August 24 @ 7:00 P.M.

Tune in August for our informative presentation and help session on video streaming services! We will go over popular services, including Netflix and Hulu, to show you how to sign up and get the most out of your video-watching time. But wait—there’s more!

You can also use video streaming services on more than just your computer. You can access the services on your Smart TV and electronic devices such as mobile phones and tablets. Now that you know these services exist, let us learn how to use it together.

The library will be offering two help sessions to get you up and running with video streaming. Each session will consist of a short demonstration followed by one-on-one help with your own devices. Everyone should leave the program with a better understanding of their video streaming options and an idea on how to get started.

These sessions are not only for new users but for current users looking to brush up on using the services. If you are a current user with questions or having a problem with the services, this is the perfect opportunity to receive assistance. You do not need to attend both sessions unless you would like to.

The Broad is a new contemporary art museum built by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad in downtown Los Angeles. The museum is home to the nearly 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is among the most prominent holdings of postwar and contemporary art of such artists as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Barbara Kruger, Cy Twombly, Ed Ruscha, Kara Walker, Christopher Wool, Jeff Koons, Joseph Beuys, Jasper Johns, Cindy Sherman, Robert Rauschenberg, Chuck Close, and John Currin, plus an ever-growing representation of younger artists, The Broad Museum strives to enrich, provoke, inspire, and foster appreciation of art of our time with this newest addition to LA’s many art museums.

PASSPORTS SERIES: Landmarks and Historic Sites of Europe

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Bethpage Public Library
Auditorium
with Ralph Brady, Historian

You’re invited to join historian Ralph Brady on a journey that will cover more than twenty-three years of travel throughout Europe to visit its historic places. Using a spectacular collection of color photographs, Mr. Brady will outline the history of sixty landmarks of Europe, some that are well known and many more that may come as a surprise to even the most seasoned travelers.

Starting in England and moving through the British Isles, the program will explain where Piccadilly Circus got its name, what castle has been under siege more than any other place in the world, and where the famous “Blarney Stone” may have originated.

Armchair travelers on this European journey will also learn about the relics housed in Notre Dame Cathedral that form the foundation of Christianity, what the life-sized figures in the Munich town hall clock represent, and why the Leaning Tower of Pisa leans.

There will be stops along the way in England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, and other countries as well. This program will give attendees a unique opportunity to learn about the most important historic sites in Europe, and share some of the anecdotes that help to bring people and their countries to life.
